Weekly Challenge #40: Tangle with JSW
Each week Diane & Carolien’s Weekly Zentangle Challenge puts out a challenge for folks to make their own representation of Diane & Carolien’s idea. We are keeping this challenge going through the holidays for those that need the healing of zentangle in this season. This week is Challenge #40, the Alphabet challenge of JSW. Use tangles starting with the letters JSW in your drawing. It’s your choice to only use patterns with these letters or to add some others as well. Happy Tangling!! We look forward to seeing what you come up with for your JSW. Next week are moving to Y-M-# (# means number) if you want to think ahead of time.
Su-Sy is the flower like shape in the middle. It starts with 3 petals and then add M shapes around and around. My pen gave out a little here and there (I guess it’s time for a new one!) but I like how easy it is to draw.
Joa is the little circles with lines around Su-Sy, it makes the star shape. I adjusted this pattern a little fit my needs, the circles in a line are more on an angle which I thought would be more fun. I think it works. Placed an aura around it to make it a more solid shape so I would not run into issues with my next tangle.
Weben is definitely a favorite of mine. Love the 3D effect. I had never tried to use it around a corner, bend let alone in a circle. I started at the top going right and realized after a few that I was drawing too tight, no space for the line that runs inbetween the squares, so I adjusted to more space, squares became rectangles. I usually find it hard to let go of ‘mistakes’ but in this case I actually really like it that it’s not perfectly spaced. I think it might have become to ‘clean’ otherwise. So good lesson learned!
JSW Zentangle Challenge entry in color
For my colored version I went bold! Really love how the shading of both (shading is the same really) makes the center pop. Really happy with that
See you next week!
