P-I-J Zentangle Challenge
P-I-J Weekly Zentangle Challenge
Each week Diane & Carolien’s Weekly Zentangle Challenge puts out a challenge for folks to make their own representation of Diane & Carolien’s idea. This week is Challenge #21, the Alphabet challenge of P-I-J. Use tangles starting with the letters P, I & J in your drawing. It’s your choice to only use patterns with these letters or to add some others as well. Happy Tangling!! We look forward to seeing what you come up with for your P, I & J. Next week are moving to U-J-B if you want to think ahead of time For those of you who are working way ahead (you know who you are 🙂 ), the week after is S-P-C

Quick P-I-J Zentangle Challenge
So I was supposed to draw this tile when my parents were here. But in stead we did a lot of games. Super fun! But it left me scrambling to get this done in time. But for a quick drawing I think it turned out quite alright. Off course I have issues seeing past the flaws. But generally I’m pleased.
The Tangles
I saw Puffcookie passing by on our (Diane and Carolien’s Weekly Zentangle Challenge) pinterest feed and had to try it. Love the depth and the fun look of it. I felt I had to do some practice runs to ‘get’ it so I did take a little time to do that and found it’s really not that horribly difficult to draw. That is until I got a little confused on my actual tile. How do the shapes work together or how are the shapes lined up towards each other? Off course the shape that is shown in the step out doesn’t always fit perfectly with my string. Hmmmz. I ended up just doing whatever. And I think it looks fun. But if you’ve found any tips or have some insights on how to make the separate shapes work better together, please leave comment.
Inapod is one of my easy go to favorites. Love that it’s whimsical (a look that’s not so easy to do for me) and can easily fit around corners and can be used small, big, long stretched out or next to each other. Versatile!
I wasn’t sure about JaJazz. And I’m still not. I think it looks fun like this, with some ‘bubbles’ around it, but I find it hard to get the triangle shape right. Which is not that important I guess as it looks good a little wonky as well. And now that I’m looking up the link to the step-out I realize I forgot a line in the pattern. Hah! Oh well.
Last but not least Pixioze. Yes a double P for this P-I-J Zentangle Challenge! Fun filler tangle on the right of my tile. Perfect nice and easy total doodle pattern. That one goes on my filler short list I think.
Black
So even though I was running out of time a little I decided to play with my colored pencils, the black and grey ones (sounds a bit wrong no? black and grey COLORED pencils?). So far I’ve used a graphite pen to do my shading. Well except for when I color with my colored pencils which I don’t regularly do on these challenges (takes me forever!). But I’ve been a little bugged by the limit of darkness I was getting from the graphite. The grey/black pencil need a little more practice, I can see some not so smooth fades here and there. But it was fun to try and I think I’ll stick with these pencils from now on as I love me some good dark shading.

Great you had so much fun with games!! Doesn’t look quick to me!! 🙂 🙂 Cool new tangle with the puffs 🙂 You say Pixioze is easy and go to – it is one of my nightmares 🙂 We are so funny this way 🙂 Lovely job!!

Lovely tile, I prefer the coloured ones, such subtle colours that look great together. I am like Diane, I have great trouble with Pixioze, but you have done it splendidly, with no gaps between.

Well I did have gaps but I just filled it in with curved lines. Yay no more gaps 😀

Fijn dat je ouders er weer waren en dat jullie het goed hadden met elkaar!!! Ondanks weinig tijd is je tile toch heel mooi geworden.

I like your tile and will have to try Puffcookie as well. Like yours.
